Flu season is fast approaching, but this year it will come with new challenges. The flu and Covid-19 are both contagious respiratory illnesses but are caused by a different virus. This means it is important to be up to date on the signs and symptoms because both illnesses can have some of the same symptoms.

However, there are differences that can help you determine which virus you have. Shortness of breath is never accompanied by the flu but is very common in people who suffer from Covid-19. Covid-19 can also present in a loss of taste and smell where the flu does not. Furthermore, the flu also comes one suddenly where Covid has a longer incubation period of 2 weeks to begin presenting symptoms, it also lasts longer than the flu. The flu is always accompanied by a fever. Fever is common in covid patients but not everyone.
